Skills Development
Projects

The goal of our Skills Development Projects is to empower vulnerable women financially and socially.
When a woman earns her own income, it not only improves her own life but also has a positive impact on her entire family. Through our Skills Development Projects we provide training for mainly women from low-income families. Trainees learn skills that can lead to becoming self-employed or getting a job as tailor, beautician or jewellery designer.
In addition to practical training, all trainees receive workshops in soft skills, including communication, self-confidence and goal setting. Many of the women in the slums have lived with lifelong social stigma, and have been told they are worth less than men, resulting in extremely low self-esteem. Our soft skills training helps them rebuild that confidence. Furthermore, they receive workshops on women’s rights, health and hygiene, and are supported through individual counselling to help them overcome trauma and cope with challenges such as domestic violence and social pressure.
We also help all trainees open a personal bank account and teach them the basics of entrepreneurship, customer service and financial management. The aim is not only to help the women get a job but to help them become empowered and build a more secure and independent future.
